The Secret to Boosting Brain Power

Human brain clipart, Halloween cartoon

I’m pretty dumb.

So I take any edge I can get to not be so dumb

So here is what I did:

I researched everything about boosting brain power and this is what I came up with:

I need all the help I can get solving one of these

If you’re looking for the secret to boosting your brain power, peptides that are good for brain power may be the answer. Peptides are small molecules made up of two or more amino acids that have numerous benefits for the brain and body. They can help improve memory, cognition, and focus, as well as improve mood and sleep.

What are Peptides?????

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that are the building blocks of proteins. Kinda like building a brick house-these little guys build piece by piece the foundation of the human body. They support a wide range of bodily functions. One of these functions is the brain. And check this out: Peptides can be found naturally occurring in foods like dairy and eggs BUT they can also be created in a laboratory setting. And this is where the magic comes from.

Peptides are different than a lot of other drugs because they work by helping our bodies produce something that it all ready produces. We simply want it to produce more. Different types of peptides offer different benefits. Today we are talking about brain power but peptides can help with injuries, weight loss and muscle building. Hell they can even give you a tan!

What do peptides do for the brain?

Peptides act on the brain’s neural pathways, increasing the levels of various neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. These neurotransmitters help regulate mood and emotion and can have an energizing effect on the body.

They make you go HELLLLL YEASSSS.

Peptides also act as antioxidants, which can reduce inflammation and oxidative damage caused by stress and toxins.

Certain peptides are known to be particularly beneficial for cognitive enhancement. Cerebrolysin, Semax, Noopept, Selank, Dihexa, and FGL are all popular peptides that have been found to improve cognitive performance.

Are there any side effects?

Ok ok ok……this all sounds great….but I’m not willing to sell my left nut for it.

Well don’t worry lets dig into what we know and don’t know about the side effects.

Common side effects include headaches, nausea, fatigue, and insomnia. Which is exactly what you hear in every drug commercial. It is also recommended to talk to a doctor before taking any peptide supplements to ensure that they are safe for you to use.

Whatever right……None of that really tells us anything.

The reality is most research on nootropics (brain power drugs) has been done by the Russians. In fact the Russians have been at the forefront of peptide research for a long time. Clinical trials in most drugs have shown little side effects when taken in recommended dosages.

How do I know this??

I read every clinical trial on all of the drugs I will refer to. This doesn’t mean I know it all I just know what the trials have shown. Now there is a caveat to this…..none of the trials have any idea of long term effects.

They could be bad…..we just dont know.

What we do know is right know short term effects are very minor from the nootropics I present in this article.

Cerebrosylin:

brain power

Cerebrolysin is a peptide-based medication derived from pig brain tissue. Fucking crazy right???

Welp hope you like bacon…..

This nootropic has positive research in fixing TBI’s, stroke and dementia. It works by exerting nerve growth activity on neurons in the dorsal root ganglia. It has also been shown to create nerve growth in the neuronal and central nervous system. If you can tell me what all those different systems do then you don’t need any cerebrosylin!

As a nootropic it has been shown to increase BDNF (brain derived nootropic factory). In dummy terms it makes you remember more shit and concentrate longer

In clinical trials, Cerebrolysin has been found to increase the synthesis of several neurotransmitters, including serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. It has also been demonstrated to reduce levels of amyloid beta proteins, which are associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. Furthermore, Cerebrolysin has been found to improve blood flow to the brain, which helps to protect neurons from damage and allows for better communication between brain cells.

So now that we see all these amazing benefits and long list of clinical trails you would assume it’s FDA approved……NOPE! It’s FDA approved in 50 other countries, but not us.

WHY?

I have no fucking clue!

Semax

Semax is a synthetic peptide that has been studied for its potential to improve cognitive performance, reduce anxiety, and even promote neurogenesis. It is a form of heptapeptide, meaning it is made up of seven amino acids.

Ok cool…..what exactly do the clinical trials say???

In clinical trials, Semax has been found to have a positive effect on improving overall brain function. It primarily does this by increasing blood flow to the brain cells. Its effects include improved memory recall, better reaction times and alertness, as well as increased focus. In addition, Semax can reduce stress levels, helping to improve concentration and productivity.

Here is a good study done on semax: Effects of Semax on the Default Mode Network of the Brain

In my research combing through multiple forums and videos I found the primary effect people felt from Semax was an increased level of focus and alertness. many users said they felt similar to a good cup of coffee but without the jitteriness.

In combing through the clinical trials I found very few side effects. The side effects associated with Semax are mild and include headaches and insomnia. However, these are rarely reported. It should be noted that all participants in the studies were Russian so maybe they were a little tougher than us Americans 🤷‍♀️😂🤷‍♀️

Selank

Selank should be Semax’s twin brother. Many times they work in conjuction. Semax is better for focus and memory recall while Selank is better for anxiety and mood control. Many times people take them together.

Selank is a synthetic peptide that has been used in Russia and other countries since the mid-2000s. It is considered to be a “nootropic” compound, meaning that it has the ability to improve mental functioning. Selank is made up of seven amino acids, including thymosin beta 4. It was first developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow, and it has been studied extensively over the years.

Has the United States adopted it…..HELL NO!

So what do the studies say about it?

Studies show positives effects in decreasing anxiety and improving mood. It has also been found to lower depression levels. Studies have suggested that Selank can enhance cognitive performance and reduce stress, however the data is stronger for Semax in that category.

Selank is a great alternative to benzodiazepines.

One of the main advantages of Selank is that it does not appear to have any serious side effects. However, it is important to note that this peptide has not been tested for long-term use and its safety for extended periods of time is still unknown. But as of now no studies indicate any serious side effects.

Ok cool…..This sounds promising right? Lets look at what the world wide web has to say.

Scrolling through forums and youtube videos I found the majority of people took selank alongside semax. Many took it to stimulate muscle growth and stated it helped them to focus more in the gym. I found this a little odd but I suppose if you really need every ounce of energy it could be helpful. I did not find a lot of stories of people taking it for test taking or work but based on users experiences I think it would be very helpful for this. What was interesting I didn’t find any negative reviews. A few users reported minimal positive effects but most users reported positive experiences and none reported any negative side effects.

Noopept

Noopept used to be a very popular nootropic in Russia. It was developed in the early 1990s. Since then Selank/Semax and Cerbrosylin have really taken over. Most people prefer these peptides over noopept but for a few noopept has been incredibly valuable.

Noopept is a synthetic peptide and has been found to be a more powerful version of the nootropic drug Piracetam. It works by increasing levels of nerve growth factors, which help to create new connections between neurons in the brain.

Noopept has been found to improve focus, concentration, memory recall and mental energy. Studies have also indicated that Noopept may help to protect against neurological damage from toxins and aging. However that has only been shown in animals not humans.

Noopept is usually taken orally and can come in either tablet or powder form. The recommended dosage is 10-30mg taken up to three times daily. Side effects are rare but can include headaches, nausea, irritability, insomnia and restlessness.

Here is a great summary of a study done on noopept: Cognitive Enhancer Noopept Activates Transcription Factor HIF-1.

Dihexa

Were working our way down the list!

Dihexa is a synthetic peptide that has shown great promise in promoting brain health. It binds to the HGF receptor and mimics the activity of naturally occuring angiotensin IV which is involved in various physiological processes.

So what exactly does that mean????

Well to be honest they are still figuring it out. It is thought to help with nerve cell regeneration, better communication between neurons, improved synaptic plasticity and overall enhanced brain function.

Unfortunately there just isn’t enough great research on it yet.

The studies show it could potentially promote the growth of new neurons and help preserve existing ones. It was also found to help reduce inflammation in the brain, which is important for healthy cognitive functioning.

But all of this was done on lab rats…..not exactly perfect science.

Ok….just for good measure let’s have a look at what the almighty world wide web has to say….

Actually not a whole lot!

A few forums mention it and users have had positive results similar to cerbrosylin. Nobody has mentioned any significant side effects. Youtube had similar stories….mediocre results with no side effects.

FGL

We finally made it to the end…..If your still reading you have reached the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow….CONGRATULATIONS!!!

FGL is short for fragmatide-Glycyl-Lysin, a specific peptide combination that has been developed to enhance cognitive functioning. It’s designed to improve memory, learning, and other brain functions that are associated with the hippocampus and frontal cortex.

It works by increasing the amount of neurotransmitters in the brain, such as acetylcholine and dopamine. It also increases nerve growth factor (NGF) in the hippocampus, which helps to improve synaptic plasticity and enhance overall brain function.

Awesome…..But how much research has really been done?

Not much.

Most studies were pre-clinical studies using animal models. Although the studies were positive there is still very little research that has been completed.

Ok….As you know our next option is the world wide web….what does it have to say?

As you may have guessed not much either.

A few users have mentioned positive effects in various forums. One user reported nausea.

I know that isn’t a lot but unfortunately that is what is out there.

Let’s Wrap This Up:

Well, there you have it folks. Nootropic peptides – the miracle brain boosters that will turn you into the next Einstein.

Forget exercise, meditation, and healthy eating – just pop a peptide and you’ll be good to go.

Ok maybe layer some nootropics on top of exercise, meditation and healthy eating. Holy shit-imagine where that could get ya?????

You might just find your self as the next president…..oh wait that’s not really saying a lot.

Anyways hope ya got something out of this….Cheers AND thanks for reading!!

  1. I love your style of writing, it’s so entertaining! This is such an amazing subject, I certainly hope there will be something that can help my waning memory in the future. Sucks that the US can’t get some of the more research nootropics, when you guys get them we Aussies can usually get them shipped.
    Thanks again
